Henrietta was reared on her parent's large farm near Brownstown, Indiana. She became a teacher and married Collin McCaslin in Seymour, Indiana on 2/14/1877 at the minister's home. While Collin was in school at the Univ. of Kentucky, she remained a teacher to help support the family. She traveled to London for her daughter's wedding and later to China to help with the rearing of her two granddaughters, Mildred & Henrietta Hutcheson.
