Major Lewis Holladay is the son of Captain Joseph and Ann Elizabeth Lewis Holladay. He served in the Virginia Troops and served through the Revolutionary War. He was appointed Major in 1793 by Virginia Governor Light Horse Harry Lee. Lewis also served as Sheriff of Spotsylvania County. A plaque recognizing his Revolutionary War service was placed on his headstone in 1933 by the Washington Lewis Chapter, D.A.R.
