History of the 115th REG
Harmon Hagadone (aka Hagadon, Hagedorn) age 39 enlisted on August 8, 1862 for a 3 year tour. Mustered in as corporal with CO G on August 19, 1662. Regiment rendezvoused in Fulton, NY and on August 29, 1862 they boarded trains for Sandy Hook MD where they joined the Army of the Potomac.
Two weeks later, they faced the enemy at Harpers Ferry, VA. Historians differ as to why but General Miles surrendered to General Sherman, but due to the sheer numbers of troops they were paroled the next day, Sept 16, 1862 and allow to leave in peace but without rations or supplies.
Returned to ranks on Oct 13, 1862
Wounded and captured in action at the worst battle the regiment. Half their men were killed or missing and those who were captured mostly died in Andersonville. Harmon was very lucky as he was wounded on Feb 20, 1862 at Olusteen FL, but survived and was paroled on December 1864.
Mustered out with detachment on 27 May 1865 at Foster Hospital, New Berne. NC

Husb of Laura McMaster; The 1865 Corinth Town Civil War records give birth year as Feb. 25 1826 in Granville NY son of Harmon and Jane McIntosh Hagadorn. Sawyer by trade.
