We found Blaze abandoned as a young kitten in a ditch, flea infested, and frightened. He was with us for 12 years. He liked to kneed on you with his sharp claws, he was never weened so he enjoyed sucking on your shirt. He also loved to eat baked potatoes with lots of butter. His hobbies included catching field mice and squirrels, and chasing his dog friend Sparky. He had alot of family and friends through out his years, there was Sparky, Tessie, Dobie, Lucky, Scooter, Thumpy, Dunkin, Limpy , Ringo . Our female cat Thumpy especially idolized Blaze and followed him everywhere. Although he was very upset when he met her and wanted to attack her, after a few weeks he begin to like her and they became good friends. Blaze had a independent tough side, he never backed down a fight when he felt another cat invaded his territory. Blaze once fought a hawk and stole a dead squirrel from him. He had a mean streak in his younger years but later became more easy going and made great friends with our dog Ringo and slept with him. He just disappeared one day and we never saw him again. We worried a coyote got him, because Blaze rarely left the yard when he was outside. For several weeks we looked all over our area woods and checked the local pound, posting missing fliers everywhere. Not a trace of Blaze anywhere. It may have been that Blaze had become sickly without our knowing and chose a warriors death, as animals sometimes do. It would be like Blaze to go out by his own terms just as he had lived his life. We held his memorial service 1 year after he left and placed his marker with all his other loved ones who have passed over the rainbow bridge. We will never forget Blaze and we miss him.
