LONSDALE (Special) -- Funeral services for Wencel Barta were held at the church of the Immaculate Conception in Lonsdale at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 7, with the Rev. Charles C. Jirik officiating. Pallbearers were Ben E. Barta, Myles Barta, Ben T. Barta, all of Montgomery, Dr. Charles J. Vosejpka of Minneapolis, Donald Malecha, Robert W. Vosejpka, all of Lonsdale. Interment was in the Lonsdale Catholic Cemetery. Wencel Barta, the son of Albert and Mary Trenda Barta, was born in Czechoslovakia on Nov. 3, 1864. He came to America with his parents when he was three years old. He farmed in the Lonsdale community all of his life until his retirement 10 years ago when he moved to Montgomery. The last two years he spent in the Montgomery Nursing Home. He was married to Rose Chlan in 1886. Mrs. Barta passed away June 9, 1930 at Lonsdale. Mr. Barta passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital in New Prague on Thursday, July 5 at the age of 97 years and eight months. He is survived by three sons, Frank J. of Montgomery, William T. of Northfield, Ben A. of New Prague; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Emily) Vosejpka of Montgomery, Mrs. Frank (Rose) Vosejpka of Lonsdale and Mrs. John (Mayme) Malecha of Lonsdale; 28 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and three sons, Wencel J. who passed away in 1945, Charles J. in 1955 and another son died in infancy. Those attending the funeral came from Minneapolis, St. Paul, Kansas City, Topeka, Kans. and the surrounding area.
