GEORGETOWN - Lucile R. Burgess, 77, of Hawkins Street, died Friday, July 24, 1998, at Hospice Savannah in Savannah, Ga.

She was born Oct. 7, 1920, in Georgetown, a daughter of the late Emanuel and Margaret Ford Richardson.

She was a homemaker and attended Georgetown County Schools. She attended Dickerson AME Church in Georgetown, where she was a Sunday school teacher, trustee and past secretary. She also was a member of the church's missionary society, stewardess board and gospel choir.

She was a member of the United Order of Tents.

Survivors include seven sons, Willie Burgess of Killeen, Texas, Fred Burgess and Bruce Burgess, both of New York, Fredrick Burgess of Oxon Hills, Md., Hendrick Burgess, Thomas Washington and Fred Washington, all of Georgetown; six daughters, Margaret Simmons of Bronx, N.Y., Eartha Scott of Savannah, Johnnie Capers of Macon, Ga., Amber Burgess-Greene of New York, and Brenda Burgess and Lydella Washington, both of Georgetown.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at Wilds' Funeral Home of Georgetown.

The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Dickerson AME Church. Burial will be in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery.
