HAWKINSVILLE - Funeral services for Mrs. Lola Barlow Hill, 104, of Hawkinsville who died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in Claxton, Georgia will be held at 2P.M. on Saturday in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens. -Mrs. Hill was the daughter of George Washington Barlow and Dora Stokes Barlow and the widow of Troy E. Hill, Sr. who served as Superintendent of the Pulaski County Schools from 1948 until his death on August 10, 1971. She was preceded in death by her son, Troy E. Hill, Jr., son-in-law, William C. Odum, Jr., siblings, William "Billy" S. Barlow, Thomas J. Barlow, Myrtle L. Barlow, Railey M. Barlow, Nolan H. Barlow and Opal Barlow Lancaster. -Born in a part of Pulaski County which later became Bleckley County, Mrs. Hill had lived in Hawkinsville for the past eighty years. She was a member of Hawkinsville First Baptist Church and the Hawkinsville Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a charter member of the Dorthea Chapter #400 of the Order of the Eastern Star when it was organized in Hawkinsville on October 4, 1953. She served as Worthy Matron for the year 1956. For forty-two years (1957-1999), she served as Treasurer of the Chapter until its charter was surrendered on December 16, 1999, when she became an Emeritus Member. -Survivors include her daughter, Joanne Odum of Claxton; grandchildren, Wayne (Bobbie) Hill, Johnnie (Laurie) Odum, Chris Hill and Lane (Eddie) Rex; great grandchildren, Madison Rex, Marty Rex, Mac Rex, Will Odum, Robby Odum, Justin Hill, Brett Hill and Tamara Hill; nieces and nephews, Lavenia Grimsley Kimball, Georgia Barlow Cox, Nola Jean Barlow Hardy, W. Lonnie Barlow, Mary Anne Barlow, Reggie H. Lancaster, Rudy B. Lancaster, Linda L. Lee and Patsy Barlow. -Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday. -Fisher Funeral Home of Cochran has charge of arrangements.
