He served during the American Revolution in the Virginia State regiment. He served in General Muhlenburg's Brigade from the 2nd February to the 15th of March 1779. (This can be found in the Miltary Records, National Archives, Washington D.C., No. 25 M)
A monument was erected not far from the family Cemetery but was damaged when a car hit it and hasn't been replaced since. John Mack I was a devoted Presbyterian as well.

A lot of people think his middle name is Adams which as far as I know hasn't been proven by the census, tax records, county court records or bible records from the research that was done by Mary P. Engels author of "To Hope, To Labour, And So To Live" that was done on the Mack family and their descendants. If anyone can provide me with documental proof that his middle name is Adams please email me and let me know by showing me a copy of this proof. Otherwise his name will remain as it is listed in the book done by my late Cousin Mary Pearl Engels.
