Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Norma Ruth Allen Merchant, passed away on September 7, 2011 due to complications from a fall.

She was born February 15, 1930 in Salem, Idaho to David Archibald Allen and Freda Bertha Rindlisbacher. She was the oldest of ten children, four of which preceded her in death. She loved growing up in Idaho and often spoke of fond memories of her childhood.

She married Lorenzo A. Merchant on June 3, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together with her husband they traveled the world including Germany and Switzerland, her ancestral home.

Norma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many callings including an LDS mission in the membership records office.
Her hobby was her family which she loved dearly.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years; children, Lance (Alaine) Merchant, Pamela (Wayne) Hull, Clayton (Sharon) Merchant, Linda (Russ) Bennett; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Marene Holm, Bryant, Mark, and Wayne Roberts, and Winona Munger. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Merlin, Blair, Darrell, and Farrell Roberts.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the West Jordan Twenty-Ninth Ward Chapel (6695 South 2200 West). There will be a viewing held on Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church as well as an hour prior to the services.
Interment will follow in the Lake Hills Memorial Park Cemetery (10055 South State Street (100 East)).
