REACHED FOUR SCORE YEARS - One of the most prominent and best citizens of
Somerset County passed away when Elder Noah Lint died Jan. 1st at his home in
Greenville Township. He was born Jan. 1st 1836 and was exactly four score years
old. Mr. Lint lived all his life on the old homestead and adjoining farm, the
old homestead being in possession of the family for more than one hundred years.
His grandfather, Christian Lint moved from beyond Somerset to Greenville
Township in the beginning of the nineteenth century when this locality was yet a
wilderness. He was united in holy wedlock with Sarah Glotfelty Nov. 4, 1860.
This union was blessed with six sons and five daughters. Three of the sons
preceded him to the spirit world namely: Jacob, Jeremiah and Franklin. He is
survived by his now sorrowing widow and the following children: Josiah N. of
Meyersdale; Susan of Hartford, Michigan; Francis at home; Kate of Frostburg,
Md.; John C. of Meyersdale; Anna of New York City; Ellen a teacher in the public
school of Meyersdale and Clara at home. Also nine grandchildren and one sister
Mrs. H. J. Hershier of Oneill, Neb. and one brother Elias of Preston, Minn.
Elder Lint was an officer in the Church for more than fifty years having taken
his father's place when he became too old to do the work. He was an active and
influential Member all these years and served the Church as an Elder up to his
death. He was also a member of the church Building Committee of the New Reformed
church at Pocahontas. The cause of his death was paralysis super induced by
other infirmities. The funeral services were conducted by his pastor Rev. A. S.
Kresge, assisted by Rev. I. S. Monn of Elk Lick on Tuesday January 4 at 10 a. m.
in St. Mark' church, Pocahontas, after which the remains were laid to rest in
the Greenville cemetery. Elder Lint will be missed as a wise counselor in the
church affairs and as a kind neighbor in the community where he lived a long and
useful life.
