Early Hatton Resident Brought Here For Burial Saturday.
John Gordon was born in Coburg, Canada, November 18th, 1852, and departed this life September 4th, 1925, at the age of 72 years, 9 months, 14 days.
At the age of four years he moved with his parents to Lapeer county.
At 25 years of age he was united in marriage to Georgia E. Hilliker, who preceded him in death six years ago. They then moved to Clare county, living among the first settlers of Hatton township, where he helped to organize the township, where they lived 40 years.
They then moved to Battle Creek where he lived until his death. He was very active, his illness only lasting four days.
He leaves to mourn his departure four sons, Floyd B., of Bathgate, North Dakota; Roy J., of Clare; Ray H., of Niles; Glenn D., of Detroit; and three daughters, Mrs. Jesse Wood, of Battle Creek; Mrs. Clyde Crumb, of Watervliet, and Mrs. Warren Alwood, at whose home he died.
He leaves twenty-five grandchildren, a brother, of Lapeer county, and a sister in California; besides other relatives and a host of friends.
The funeral was held at the M.E. church in Clare Saturday afternoon Rev. Frank Bates officiating and the remains laid to rest in Cherry Grove cemetery.
