William Speth, son of Henry and Emma Speth was born at Sioux Rapids, Iowa, November 20, 1899. His death at the Spencer Municipal Hospital followed earlier hospitalization at Sioux City and Rochester.
When he was 14 years old his father passed away, leaving him, the eldest, to help his mother carry on the care of the family and farms in South Dakota and Minnesota. In the fall of 1928 he came to this community and was united in marriage to Miss Vera Rider of Langdon on February 14, 1931. They have since made the Langdon community there home and in the summer of 1933 a nephew and niece came to make their home with them.
