The daughter of Arthur and Drucilla Ferguson Rider, Mrs. Speth was born December 22, 1900, in Windom, Minnesota. She attended country schools and later graduated from Spencer High School. She then attended college and became a teacher. She taught in Rossie and Lake Center until she was married.
On February 14, 1931, she married William Speth in Langdon. Following their marriage they lived in the Langdon area where they farmed.
Mrs. Speth moved to Spencer in the fall of 1951, following the death of her husband. While living in Spencer she was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and also worked at the A & M Laundry for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother.
She is survived by two nephews and one niece and other relatives.
