Jonathan Kittler, 85, formerly of Golden Valley, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 1940, at Eureka, S. Dak. Death was due to old age complications. he had been ailing for the past ten years but did not become seriously ill until about two weeks before his death.
Jonathan Kittler was born on September 12, 1856, at Bessarabia, in Russia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kittler.
In 1904 he came to America with his family, and settled on a homestead north of Golden Valley in 1905. His first wife died on the journey to this country. In 1909 he married Solome Grosz Ginsburg and to this union one child was born.e
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Jacob Reichenberg, Hazen; Mrs. Ferdinand Miller, Halliday; Mrs. Gottlieb Isaak, Dodge and Mrs. Ottiele Brenner, Armour, S. Dak.; two sons, Fred of Krem and John of Golden Valley; a sister in Russia, also one in the state of Washington and a half brother at Turtle Lake, N. Dak., survive him. Three children preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted in the Lutheran Church north of Dodge on Sunday, May 26. Interment was made in the Lutheran Church Cemetery.
