Ski racer. He is the first Downhill olympic champion in 1948 at Saint Moritz and few days later won also the Gold Medal in Combined and Bronze Medal in Special Slalom. He spent frequently his holidays in Val d'Isère where his body rests. At 26 he retired from ski to start a new career in motor racing. He was killed in a motor race in 1962 driving a Ferrari.
