After high school graduation she attended a post secondary school in Norman Park. Norman Park is a city in Colquitt County, in the Moultrie metro area It was founded as Norman Institute; changed name to Norman Junior College in 1928; changed name to Norman College in 1931.
She married Jesse David Ward on Nov 24, 1915. Jesse had a house built for them on the property located south of Church Street, east of Harmon Street, west of Baptist Church, the Cemetery and the Old Highway Road. The current house address is 190 Harmon Street, Dixie, GA

They had two sons Lamar Powell Ward and Jesse David Ward, Jr. born in 1916 and 1920.
Mary's mother, aunts and uncles were founders of the Dixie Baptist Church on Nov 25, 1892. She and her husband (who served as a deacon) and she as the pianist were very active in the church.
Both were actively involved in raising funds to build a new building nearby. On Dec. 23, 1956 the first service was held in the new church.
Upon her death in 1971 she willed a portion of her land to the Dixie Cemetery where she is interred along with her mother, father, brother, husband and one son J D Ward, Jr.
