He was appointed by several Ga. Governors and served as a school board member in the fourth group (in Brooks Co.)from 1920 to 1940 having been appointed in May 1920.
During WWI on August 30, 1918 he was appointed by the Local Board of Brooks County as a registrar for his district.It was his patriotic duty to serve without compensation.
He died at age 96 and is buried near his wife and son J. D., Jr.
