ALVEY, BERNARD EUGENE, 81, of Louisville, died Monday, May 7, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Owensboro, KY and he was a graduate from St. Louis University. Mr. Alvey was a retired lieutenant colonel for the United States Air Force where he served in the Korean conflict, a retired engineer and owner and operator of Alvey Company in Owensboro, a past president of the National Home Builders Association and a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his wife JoAnn Tamborn Alvey. He is survived by his children, Bernard T. "Chip" Alvey, Berdette Anderson and Mariam Burich; aunts, Sister Emma Cellia, of Maple Mount, KY and Mary Agnes Vance (Otis), of Connorsville, IN; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 508 Breckenridge Lane with Father Terry Bradshaw officiating. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. at the church. Memorial gifts may be made to the St. Bernadette Building Fund 6500 St. Bernadette Dr. Prospect, KY 40059. Ratterman's Funeral Home in St. Matthews is caring for the arrangements.
