May 28 1908:

Another pioneer passes. Sunday May 17, at the home of a daughter in Denver, Mrs Odelia Hofschulte died after ailing about three years.
She was confined to bed about three weeks.
Death resulted from heart and liver trouble.
Her funeral was held in Denver the next morning after which the remains were brought to Westphalia for burial in St. Teresa cemetery by the side of her husband Frank who passed eighteen years ago.
Mrs Hofschulte was born in Westfallen, Germany and this fall would have reached 69 years.
She was the mother of 11 children ten surviving and all grown and married except the oldest son Frank. There are 42 grandchildren. Her son Frank resides in Arizona; Teresa, Annie and Mary reside in Idaho, Sophia and William are in Denver, Tillie and Minnie reside in Olpe, Casper and family are here, and Lizzie lives in Oklahoma.
The Hofschulte's came here from Germany in the fall of 1880 and settled on a farm west of town.
