United States Representative. He served in the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, in the 33rd Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He settled in Louisiana after the War and became a cotton planter. He was elected to the United States Congress from Louisiana and served from 1869 to 1876.
