Ernestine Wallace was born on April 30, 1920 to James Ottice and Lena B. Neill. Ernestine was born into a family of brothers and sisters, Josephine Neill, Jo Neill, Carrie Neill, Rubin Thompson and Frankie Bell Thompson. Two years later she was given a baby brother Sam Neill.

Ernestine went to Bradley School and graduated from High School in 1938. She attended Oklahoma College For Women and graduated in 1943. She then went on to teach school at Hendrick, Bradley, Amber and Piedmont, Oklahoma.

She worked as a food supervisor in the old Chickasha Hospital. She also worked at Poly Clinic Hospital and La Homa Nursing and Rehabilitation Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Ernestine married Rupert Wallace on August 15, 1947 in the First Christian Church in Chickasha where they were members. They also belonged to Northwest Church of Oklahoma City and to the Putnam City Christian Church. In each of these churches they helped with different jobs. At the Chickasha Church they worked with Chi Rho under the direction of Harry Hook and were mentioned in the 100 year history of the church. She was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Ernestine was a member of Christian Women's Fellowship in each of these churches.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rupert, grandson, David Michael Wallace, and all of her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Samuel E. Wallace, of Saginaw, Texas, James K. Wallace and wife Donna of Lindsay, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Steven M. Wallace of Ft. Worth, Texas, Shellye A. Register and husband Andy of Lindsay, Ok, Andrew R. Wallace and friend Kali of Lindsay, Oklahoma, her great grandchildren, Hope Register, Andon Register and Kamryn Wallace along with a host of nieces and nephews. Ernestine was a wonderful and loving mother and "Granny" to all and will be missed.

Services for Ernestine are set for Friday, February 25, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the B. G. Boydston Funeral Home Chapel, Lindsay, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of B. G. Boydston Funeral Home. Condolences maybe sent to the Wallace family online at www.boydstonfuneralhome.com.
