Canadian politician. Born in Beloeil (Québec), on January 2, 1855. He studied at the Sainte-Marie-de-Monnoir College in Marieville. He was admitted to the Bar of the Province of Québec on January 11, 1879. He contributed also to the newsroom of “Le Courrier de Montréal” from 1881 to 1883 and became owner of the paper “Le National” from 1889 to 1892. Vice-president of 1878 to 1880 and chair Cartier Club in 1881. In the aftermath of the Riel Crisis in 1885, he left the Conservative Party and became one of the principal organizers of the National Party in Montréal. Twice in 1886 and 1887, the electors of the district of Iberville sent him to represent them in the Legislative Assembly. Premier Mercier appointed him Solicitor General, a post he kept from January 29, 1887 to May 8, 1888. On this last date, he was asked to be Land Commissioner : he exerced this charge up to December 21, 1891. In 1890, he was reelected, this time in the district of Laprairie. But two years, he was defeated. He died in Montreal, on August 11, 1892.
