Lewis Wabel and Grace Miles were married Dec 31, 1918 in Lacon, IL at the Congregational Church parsonage. Lewis was 21 and Grace was 20. For their honeymoon they took the train to Peoria, IL.
Lewis was a farmer and Grace was a school teacher in Whitefield Township, Illinois.
After leaving the farm, Lewis started his own construction company with several trucks and a crane. Unfortunately, the depression hit and he lost a lot. He then started working as a crane and heavy equipment operator, wherever there was work to be done. He last worked out of Local 965 in Springfield, IL. He retired in 1965.
Lewis enjoyed hunting, especially deer hunting in the state of Wyoming. He had many successful bird hunting days here on Illinois farm lands, but FISHING HE DID NOT DO!
