GROVER C. SCHOONOVER, JR.(1921-2006), a resident of Houston, Texas for 46 years died May 30, 2006 at his home after a long illness. Mr. Schoonover was born May 14, 1921 in Pawhuska, OK. After graduation from Phoenix Union High School in Phoenix, AZ, he moved to Long Beach, CA to build B-17 bombers for Douglas Aircraft (1941-1942). He joined the U. S. Army Air Force in 1942 and served as a side-gunner in a B-17 bomber during World War II. After release from the service in 1945, he was with the Maricopa County Arizona Sheriff's office. In 1950 he was accepted as a special agent with the FBI from which he retired in 1975. Survivors include his wife, Lila Schoonover; son, Steve Schoonover and wife Cheryl and two grandchildren, Shauna and Scott Schoonover. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm, Friday at Klein Funeral Home with memorial services beginning at 2pm with Rev. Mark Klein officiating. Private entombment will be held at a later date at the Houston National VA Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the 100 Club.
