Baseball Player. Eugene Robertson was the most prominent major league player to come out of Saint Louis University. He would bat with his left but threw right handed. He played most of his major league career with the St. Louis Browns, from 1919 to 1926. He was 5' 7" and 152 pound third baseman who hit fourteen home runs in 1925 which ranked him as eighth in the league. The rest of his years in the majors, he only hit six more home runs for a total of twenty. His highest batting average was .319 in 1924, a year when the league hit .290 and the top ten batters in the league were hitting .342 or higher. From 1928 to 1929 he played with the New York Yankees. He was with the New York Yankees when they won the World Series in 1928 and most of 1929. In 1928 he played almost as many games at third base as Joe Dugan, while in 1929 he played third base more than anyone. After being in the American League for eight years he moved to the Boston Braves in the National League and played for them from 1929 to 1930.
