Samuel Curtis was the son of Nathaniel Curtis and Susannah He was Half Brother to Thomas Ratcliff son of William Ratcliff and Samuel's mother Susannah Thomas Curtis Ratcliff .

Husband of 1st Sarah (Hicks) Curtis and 2nd Elizabeth Warner (Kennon) Curtis. Father of Obedience Curtis, Samuel Curtis, Jr., Nathaniel Curtis, John Curtis, Daniel Curtis, William Curtis, Thomas R. Curtis, Sarah Curtis, Susannah Curtis, Elizabeth Curtis, Dolly Curtis, and Nancy R. K. Curtis. Samuel married 1) Sarah HICKS. Their children were: Samuel, Sarah, Daniel, Susannah, Nathaniel, William L., Obedience, John B. and Thomas Roe CURTIS [my line].

Samuel's wife Sarah died in Stewart Co., TN on September 10, 1810. Samuel married 2nd widow Elizabeth Warner KENNON Alston. In TN they had children: Elizabeth, Dorothea and Nancy Roe Kennon CURTIS.

Samuel and some family members moved to Marengo Co. AL ~1820. He built a brick home in Demopolis in 1840 (National Register)after his log home in Old Spring Hill burned.

This cemetery is on that Log Home property.
