Dear Aunt Emily - at only 4'11" you were quite the little lady. Emily left Plock, Poland and her German parents to come to the USA to join her brothers, Frederick, my grandfather, Uncle Chris & Uncle Henry. Her parents wanted her to marry the farmer next door so they could join lands but she said no. "Just give me my dowery and I am off to the US. She married Fred Kuise and had two children, Fred and Marie. Fred died as a teenager. She had one grandaughter, Joan Owens Davidow Kirbach. I remember how she walked from her home in Middle Village, NYC through the Lutheran Cemetery in extreme cold weather with snow on the ground to care for my mother, who had pnemonia. She didn't wear pants back in the 50's and I asked her wasn't she cold. She pulled up her dress and showed me her "woolies"! Of course I also remember her chasing Joanie around the kitchen table with a wooden spoon. She was 4 feet 11 inches of Dynomite!
