Mrs. Cora Washington Roundtree, 85, 809 South Broad St., died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday in a Rome convalescent center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Roundtree was born in Floyd County, Nov. 5, 1894, daughter of the late Jeff D. and Mary Maroney Washington. She resided her entire life in Rome and Floyd County and was a member of South Broad United Methodist Church. She was pianist for the Men's Bible Class and a member of the choir. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and a member of the church administration board.

Prior to retirement, she was associated with Horton's Laundry for more than 25 years. She was married to Franklin Pierce Roundtree in 1932. He died in June 1948.

Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Velma Morris, Lindale and Mrs. Ella Mae Stough, West Palm Beach, Fla.; four granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were to be held at 4 p.m. today in the chapel of Talley Brothers Funeral Home with the Revs,. Dewey Bailey and Charles J. Buffington officiating. Interment will be in East View Cemetery.
