Chester A. Krom, 59, of Stone Ridge, died suddenly at his home Monday afternoon. He was born in the Town of Olive, a son of the Isaiah and Nora VanKleeck Krom. He had resided in Stone Ridge for the past 33 years, where he was in partnership with his brother-in-law in the Brissa and Krom Service Station. Prior to that time he had his own taxi business in Kingston. For several years he served as chief of the Stone Ridge Fire Company. He was also a member of the Cottekill Fire Company, Ulster County Volunteer Firemen's Association and the Marbletown Sportmen's Association. Surviving are his wife, the former Katherine Brissa; two brothers, George Krom of Saugerties and Carleton Krom of Poughkeepsie; two nephews, Gilbert Krom of Germany and Harry Krom of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three nieces, Arlene Krom of Saugerties, Mrs. Thomas Gorham of Kingston and Mrs. George J. Moylan of Rosendale. Funeral services will be held at George J. Moylan Funeral Home., Main Street, Rosendale. Thursday 2 p. m. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Stone Ridge. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m., today and Wednesday.
