HARCOURT - LuVerne L. Anderson, age 71, of Independence, MO, formerly of Harcourt, died Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Groves in White Oak Rehabilitation Center at Independence, MO. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church in Harcourt with Pastor Rod Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Lost Grove Township Cemetery near Harcourt with military rites by Greenfield-Hartquist American Legion Post #699 of Harcourt. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church, Harcourt. Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a brother, Vincent Anderson of Council Bluffs; sisters, Arlene Hintch of Harcourt and Marilyn Chase and her husband, Vearl of Oxnard, CA; three nephews and eight nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edna (Berglund) Anderson; brother, Laurel Anderson; sister-in-law, Judy Anderson; brother-in-law, Don Hintch; and nephew, John Anderson.
LuVerne L. Anderson was born on January 25, 1940 on the family farm north of Harcourt. He was baptized and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church, Harcourt and graduated from the Harcourt High School in 1958. LuVerne graduated from Ft. Dodge Community College with an associate of arts degree in 1960. He served in the United States Air Force from January of 1962 to January of 1966. LuVerne established his home in Independence, MO. He was employed with the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 1997 due to ill health. LuVerne played basketball and baseball in high school and in Junior College. He enjoyed sports, especially bowling.
