"Whitley Flt P-5090 (Y-GL) took off from RAF Limavady (Londonderry, Northern Ireland) at 20:00 on 23rd Nov 1940 on Convoy Escort duty in the North Atlantic. On return the weather was extremely poor and, it would seem, they became lost and crashed in the hills above Balquhidder (Perthshire). Only one of the Crew (Sgt/Air Gnr William Stanley Hamilton RAFVR) survived".
