Eli Evinson, was traveling third class with his wife and infant son, Julius, aboard the Empress of Ireland.

Eli was born to a Russian Jewish family living in Leeds, England. He changed his surname from Evenstone to Evinson when he immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada. There he married another Russian Jew, Fanny Levi, on 16th October 1912.

They had one child, a son, Julius, born in August 1913.


Both Eli and his son, Julius, were lost in the disaster. Fanny was saved and later remarried.

On the 16th of January 1915, Fanny was awarded the effects from her husbands' estate at 65 McKenzie Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. £61 2s 9d was awarded to her then.
