Born Marie Greta Jansdotter in Sweden to Jan and Anna. She married John Johnson, 14 Nov 1879 in Sweden, and emigrated to the United States in 1882, first to Cheyenne, Wyoming, then to Horseshoe Creek. She eventually moved to Wheatland where she lived until her death. She had five children: Anna B, 1879; John Victor, 1882; Minnie H., 1883; Oscar Joseph and Mary Josephine, 1888.
