Born Johan Jansson in Edane, Brunskog, Värmlands, Sweden to Jan Olsson and Maria Olsdotter. He married Maria Greta Jansdotter 14 Nov 1879 and then emigrated to the United States in 1882 with their two children, Anna and John Victor. They settled in Wyoming where John became a prominent Cattle rancher in Horseshoe Creek. They had three more children, Minnie who died at age 15, and twins Oscar Joseph and Mary Josephine. John's date of death in his obituary is stated as April 26, 1904.
