Lauriston Davidson was traveling in Saloon (first class) with her 17-year-old daughter, Lilian, on board the SS Atlantic. Lauriston traveled to New Zealand where she met and married Capt. Alexander Davidson on 14th June 1844 in New Zealand. The couple moved to Australia and had four children, Edward William, Charles, Florence and Lilian, and although none died in childhood, the four died before 1882.
Lauriston and her daughter were on their way to Telegraph City, California to visit her brother John.
Lauriston and Lilian both died in the disaster. Around 2am on 11th April, the bodies of mother and daughter were recovered. They are buried together in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
In the papers following the disaster, Lauriston is listed as a widow with two surviving children.
