James Stark, 86, Watersmeet, died Saturday morning.

A native of Vienna, Austria, he was born Sept. 26, 1896, and came to the United States and New York with his parents in 1901.

In 1905 he moved to Antigo, Wis., and was married to the former Molly Harper at Antigo in 1926. They operated a berry and potato farm in Langlade County, Wis., and operated logging camps in northern Wisconsin and the western Upper Peninsula many years.

After moving to Watersmeet in 1946, they operated Starks Cabins and Lunchroom. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Watersmeet; the Wakeield Knights of Columbus Council; the Land O'Lakes, Wis., Chamber of Commerce; the Fish and Game Club of Watersmeet and Land O'Lakes; and a charter member of the Watersmeet Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mmes. John (Marion) Zelinski, Watersmeet, James (Arlene) Quenon, Lakewood, Colo., and Robert (Nancy) Nelson, Iron River, Mich.; 28 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Anna Thomas, Chicago.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stark, and two brothers, preceded him in death.

Brown Funeral Home, Bruce Crossing, will open for visitation at 6 p.m. (CDT) Tuesday and the rosary will be recited there at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. (CDT) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Samuel Buttoni officiating. Burial will be in the Watersmeet Cemetery.
