Mayor of Cincinnati, Entrepreneur. He served as the president the family's business Fleischmann Yeast Company and he was the son of the company's founder Charles Fleischmann, a Hungarian-Jewish immigrant. He left college to enter the family business and became the company's General Manager in 1894 when he was 22 years old. He became Cincinnati's youngest Mayor in 1900 and served until 1905. Since the family's business was worth $20 million at the time of his father's death, he was the wealthiest man to serve as the city's mayor, and was remembered for vastly improving Cincinnati's park system and railways. He declined renomination for a third term in favor of business pursuits. A successful businessman, he was also a financier, sportsman, and a Mason. Along with the large yeast company, he was the president of several other companies, including the Market National Bank, Union Grain and Hay, Riverside Malting and Elevator, and the Illinois Vinegar Manufacturing Company. He was also a member of the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, a co-owner of the Cincinnati Baseball Club, and a staple in the horse racing business. He was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1904, 1908, and 1916. Although he lived in New York City, he died of a heart attack while on a sporting trip in Florida.
