Lucille Irons Pate, age 81, of Athens, formerly of Florence, passed away at her daughter's residence in Athens on Monday, April 25, 2011.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, in the funeral home chapel, with Brother Alvin Thigpen and Brother Del Huckaba officiating. Interment is at Glendale Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Josh Pate, Matthew Rupley, Jacob Herston, Tim Smallwood, Braxton Gilbert and Brandon Pate.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Roma Pate; daughter, Carolyn J. Pate; parents, Sam and Ollie Irons; one sister; and four brothers.
Survivors include sons, Roger Pate Sr. (Joanne), of Florence, Ala., Daniel Pate (Sandra), of Muscle Shoals, Ala., Terry Pate, of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; daughters, Sandra Bailey (Ricky), of Athens, Ala., Sherry Daley (Lee), of Clearwater, Kan.; brother, Luther Irons (Jack), of Sheffield, Ala.; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family extends special thanks to the staff of Huntsville and ECM hospitals, Dr. Felix Morris, Dr. Alvin Sago, Wiregrass Hospice, Rosalyn and Alice and Chaplain Dan.
