John Fries was the key figure and instigator of the Fries Rebellion also known as the House Tax, Window Tax and Hot Water Tax Rebellion. Events occured 1798-1799 in Upper Bucks Co, PA. Almost hung for treason, he and two others were pardoned at the eleventh hour by President Adams.
