PIONEER WOMAN IS DEAD AT STOCKWELL
Mrs Elizabeth Starkey Williams, widow of Harvey Williams, of Stockwell died Tuesday morning at 5:30 o'clock at her home. The death of the aged and highly respected woman was caused by a complication of diseases which followed an attack of bronchitis. Mrs Williams was born in Clinton county January 11, 1840, and was the daughter of John and Frances R Starkey, pioneer settlers. She was married to Harvey Williams July 3, 1866. To this union eight children were born, six of who survive. They are Mrs Velma Cann and J Sumner Williams, of Stockwell; Mrs W F Butler, of Cayuga, Indiana; Mrs J W Brelsford, of Lafayette; Mrs L. E. Eberhart, of Indianapolis, and Harry Williams of Dayton. Two children Joseph B Williams and Verna Boyer are deceased. She is also survived by two-step-children, Miss Ida Williams, of Stockwell and W. M. Williams of Lafayette, and three sisters, Mrs Nancy Miller, of Terre Haute; Mrs Jennie Lackey, of Colfax, and Mrs Mary Ely of Louisville, Illinois, and a brother, J. Y. Starkey, of Mulberry. Six grand children also survive. Harold H, Merle J, Orth and Kenneth Brelsford, of Lafayette, Mrs Ruth Schieicher, and Ralph Eberhart of Indianapolis. Mrs Williams had a wide acquaintance throughout the county and was honored and respected by all who knew here. She was a live long member of the Monroe United Brethren church and funeral services will be conducted from there Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev L. L. Shafer will officiate and burial will be in the Monroe cemetery.
