Jack Klosterman of Effingham, a teacher and football coach at Effingham High School for 26 years, died at 4:50 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 1991, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He was 68 years old.
Mr. Klosterman was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Centralia, the son of Walter J. and Clara (Kramer) Klosterman. He married Betty J. Kepner in 1946 in Centralia. She survives.
Mr. Klosterman, who also was athletic director at EHS, was inducted into the Illinos High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1982.
He was a member of American Legion Post 120 and Centenary United Methodist Church, both of Effingham; and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War 2, having received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge.
Other survivors are his sons, John of LaSalle-Peru, Steve of Effingham; daughters, Mrs. Larry (Julie) Garner and Mrs. Sid (Kay) Kibler, both of Effingham; brothers, Walter, Robert and Ronald, all of Centralia; sisters, Ladonne Simpson of Springfield, Clara Defend of Centralia; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Centenary United Methodist Church, with burial in Oakridge Cemetery Effingham. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.
Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Visiting Nurse Association or Centenary United Methodist Church.
Also, former EHS Flaming Hearts team members are invited to contribute to a "players' fund." This money will be presented to the Klosterman family, who, in turn may donate it to a charity of choice.
