MRS. CHARLES DEWEY
Mrs Charles Dewey passed away at Mrs Alexander's Nursing Home, Madoc on Monday following an illness of some eight years duration. She was in her 82nd year.
The deceased, formerly Beatrice Mathison, was a daughter of the late William Mathison and Agnes Bannon. She was the first girl born in the Village of Havelock and has been a life-long resident of the community. She was educated in the local schools. In 1912 she married the late Charles Dewey who predeceased her several years ago. In religion she was a Presbyterian and a faithful member of Knox Church. She took an active part in the various women's organizations and taught Sunday School for many years.
Surviving are one (step) daughter, Mrs. John Wilson, (Alice) Flint, Mich. and two brothers, Harold of town and Archie of Napanee. Another daughter. Mrs. F (Fred) Hull (Agnes) predeceased her. Six grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held from the B A Curtis Funeral Home on Thursday, conducted by the Rev M. Kay. Interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery. "Havelock Standard" June 29, 1961
