Andrew's birthplace was Elgin, Crosby Township, Ontario. Andrew's parents; James and Annie Pattison had been sponsored to come to Canada from Scotland by a local farmer and work on his farm near Elgin. The farmer's name and exact location is unknown at this time. Recently the Township has changed names. The area is now known as Township of Rideau Lakes.
