Lucille Oeffling, 81, of Johnsburg, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at her home in Johnsburg.

She was born Aug. 19, 1929, in Crystal Lake, to Ernest and Minnie (Flotow) Timm. She married Alger John Oeffling on June 5, 1948, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Crystal Lake.

A longtime resident of Johnsburg, she was employed at Oaks Manufacturing in Crystal Lake and LGS/Triple E in McHenry.

She was a member of the Catholic Order of Women Foresters, St. Agatha Court 777. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years, and always was known by her family as "chief cook and bottle washer" and babysitter to all. She always was a hard worker and thought of her family before herself. She enjoyed making her home open to all and always was willing to set another place. Partially losing her eyesight limited her ability to help others.

She enjoyed puzzles and scratch-off games. She also was an avid bingo player and enjoyed trips to play the slot machines. Reading was a favorite activity.

Survivors include six children, Diane (Randall) Rautmann of Sheboygan, Wis., Susan (Robin) Bowling of Round Lake Beach, John Oeffling of Lake in the Hills, Michael Oeffling of Johnsburg, Allan (Cassie) Oeffling of Avondale, Ariz., and Tammy (Ron) Lovell of Cedar Grove, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren, Scott (Amie) Rautmann of Portland, Ore., Christopher (Rachel) Rautmann of Saukville, Wis., Jennifer (Andy) Littmann of Sheboygan, Wis., Steve (Colleen) Huska of Tonica, Vicky Huska of Kenosha, Nicole Bowling of Round Lake Beach, Penny (Denver) Owens of Russellville, Mo., Paul (Sarah) Oeffling of Johnsburg, Danny Freeland of Lake Geneva, Wis., Noah Oeffling of Avondale, Ariz., Dayna Lovell of Woodstock, Amy Lovell and Tanya Lovell, both of Jackson, Tenn., and Sean Lovell of Cedar Grove, Tenn.; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Greta Czaja of Sheboygan, Wis., Clara Ackman of Hampshire and Emma (Johnny) Morrison of Allen, Texas; two brothers, Carl Timm of Poplar Grove and Richard Timm of Elburn; her sisters-in-law, Carrie Timm of Woodstock, Bonnie Kuechel of McHenry, Doris (Bud) Schabow of McHenry and Sarah Oeffling of McHenry; her brothers-in-law, Harold Krecker of Crystal Lake, Frank (Donna) Oeffling of Exeland, Wis., and Tom Fowler of Twin Lakes, Wis.; and her special friend, Doug Webster of McHenry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alger J. Oeffling on Sept. 7, 2009; her parents; four sisters, Erna Krecker, Shirley Dominick, Helen Oeffling and Dora Smith; and four brothers, Vernon, Ernest, Otto and Fredrick Timm.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry. The visitation will resume from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. Thursday, March 10, at the funeral home before leaving for the 10 a.m. funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 2302 W. Church St., Johnsburg. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Johnsburg.

For those wishing to send an expression of condolence, the family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.

Her family would like to thank the many friends and neighbors and the staff at the dialysis treatment center for their care during the past two years.
