Earl Shore Dies
Earl Shore who had been ill for a week or more of pneumonia, passed away at his home Thursday afternoon.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Oak Ridge. The services were conducted by Rev. O. M. Ennes of Cassville & Rev. Ed Brown. Horine-Culver undertakers were in charge of the burial.
Mr. Shore was a son of the late Rachel Ellen Murphy & Azahel Shore, who lived for many years north of Cassville. He had lived in Barry County more than forty years.
For 4 years, until a short time ago, Mr. Shore was a U.S. Star route mail carrier from Cassville to the Eagle Rock & Mano communities. He had also operated saw mills in Barry County. He was a quiet, industrious citizen & had lots of friends.
Mr. Shore is survived by his wife Nora, children: Lois, Laverne, Joan, & Charles, all at home plus daughter Mrs. Marzelle Hall of near Cassville. Siblings: Elmer shore of Cassville, Ed Shore of San Diego, CA, & Mrs. Minea Mae Haegwer of Caterville, also survive. He had 3 brothers precede him in death: James W, John A, & Elliott W Shore.

Genealogy note: Earl Shore's parents, Azel (Azahel) & Rachel Ellen Shore migrated west sometime after 1870 from Hancock County, IN to Agnes City, KS, eventually settling in MO.
Rachel was the daughter of James Hare Murphy b.1 July 1815, VA d.9 July 1884 Hancock County, IN & Elizabeth Evans b.1 June 1815 Stokes County, NC d.30 August 1846. James & Elizabeth Murphy were married 11 December, 1836 in Rush County, IN.
Azel Shore is the son of William D. Shore b.12 June 1816 Surrey County, NC d.3 May 1901 Hancock County, IN & Mary Jeffrey b.25 February 1819, d.14 March 1854 Hancock County, IN. William & Mary Shore were married 8 October 1835 Surrey County, NC.
Rachel's siblings include a full brother, John Piner Murphy and half siblings, James Wilson., Elizabeth J., Robert H., Sarah Alice, Eunice, Clara Belle, and Anson Murphy, all of Hancock County, Indiana.
Interesting fact, Elizabeth (Evans) Murphy's older sister, Mary Evans, married Isaac Martin Murphy, older brother of James Hare Murphy. Isaac & Mary (Evans) Murphy settled in Warren Twp. Marion County, Indianapolis, IN & raised a large family. --- by Greg Murphy ---
