John Willis "Bill" Green was my Uncle (Mother's brother). He was the 1st son and the 2nd child of William Hosea Green and Emma Olive Bryant Green. He married Ethel Mae "Pat" Holley on June 15, 1933 in Abilene, TX, Taylor Co. They lost their first daughter, at birth, they adopted 1 daughter, and later had 1 son. They were faithful christians and members of the Church of Christ.

John W. "Bill" Green, age 83, of Abilene, died Tuesday morning July 17, 1990 at 1:56 a.m. at Coronado Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Allen-Korezenewski Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 North 2nd Street. John Willis and David Wray will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Born Jul 3, 1907 in Knoxville, Tennessee, he was the son of early day Abilene Meterologist William H. Green and Emma O. Bryant Green. They moved to Abilene when John was three. He grew up in the historic Weather Bureau Building on Norht First and Beech Streets. He attended Abilene schools and received a B.A. degree from Abliene Christian College in 1929. He married Pat Holley June 15, 1934. She preceded him in death January 1, 1984. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of W. W. II. He operated Green's Exxon Service Station on South First street supervisor at Abilene State School for ten years before retiring. He was a charter member of Highland Church of Christ where he had served as an elder and was a member of the church's Thirty-Niner's.
Surpervisors include a daughter, Betty A. Hicks of Abilene; a son, Charles W. Green of Mansfield; two sisters, Ruth Bateman of Abilene and Mary Mozeney of Corpus Christi; three brothers, Berton Green of Fort Worth, Paul Green of Sweetwater, and Howard Green of Memphis, Tennessee; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Doug Kirkpatrick, Cullen Hunt, Carl Cheatham, Bill McLaren, Louis Holley, and Gene Aaron. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to Highland Church of Christ Building Fund.
