Permelia "Ruth" Green Bateman (my mother) was the 4th daughter and the 8th and last child of William Hosea Green and Emma Olive Bryant Green. She married Harley Dean Bateman, 1st son and 1st child of James Monroe Bateman and Annie Jane Simms Bateman, on Jun 15, 1940 in Hamlin, TX, Jones Co. They had 2 daughters.
Ruth and her siblings were born and raised in the Abilene Weather Bureau where their father was the Weatherman. She graduated from Abilene Christian College (now know as Abilene Christian University).

Ruth Green Bateman, age 89, passed away Tuesday evening, September 26, 2006, in Longview Texas. She was born to William Hosea and Emma Olive Bryant Green on February 20, 1917 in Abilene, Texas. Her father, W. H. Green, was the U.S. Weatherman in Abilene from 1909 until 1944. They lived in the old Weather Bureau on North 1st and Beech Street, where Ruth and four other brothers and sisters were born. Ruth lived at the Bureau until she married Harley D. Bateman on June 15, 1940 in Hamlin, Jones County, Texas. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1934 and Abilene Christian College (ACU) in 1938. Ruth was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Harley D. Bateman; daughter, Janet Maurine Bateman Frye; two sisters, Mary Green Mozeney and Elsie Green Dement; and three brothers, Willis "Bill" Green, Howard Green and Paul Green. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Bateman Wallace and son-in-law, Bill Wallace, of Longview Texas; grandson, Curtis Wallace and wife, Tammy, of Hewitt, Texas; granddaughter, Jan Braddock and husband, Harrell, of Chatfield, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Leslie Braddock Fore and husband, Bo, Trey Braddock, and Tyler and Krystin Wallace; a brother, Berton Green of North Richland Hills, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be in Elmwood Memorial Park on Friday, September 29, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. Officiating will be her grandson-in-law, Rev. Walter Harrell Braddock, Jr. of Chatfield, Texas.
