Cora Combs Smith, age 81 of Fouke, AR died peacefully Tuesday, October 12, 2004, surrounded by her family.

She was born October 6, 1923 in Navarro County, Texas to Henry Lee Combs and Lottie Lee Davis Combs. She was a member of Springhill Baptist Church, The Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 2684, Ladies FW Auxiliary #4562, and the Miller County Wildlife Club. She was a proud farmer and excellent provider for her family.

She was most comfortable with a fishing rod in her hand or perched in a hunting blind. She treasured the times she spent fishing and hunting with her family and other "old broads" like herself. No duck or fish was safe any time Cora was wearing her hip waders. Independent, she was.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Mart Smith, daughter, Bonnie Cheryl Smith, and her parents. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Ann Westbrook, Debbie Lee Davis (Ronnie); three sons, James Dale Smith (Debbie), Dennis Wayne Smith (Deborah), and Barry Joe Smith; ten grandchildren, Deanna Westbrook Graham, LaSonya Westbrook Burns, Cody Westbrook (Natasha), Jimmy Smith, Kyle Smith, Wayne Smith (Lesley), Shane Smith (Sarah), Michelle Davis Bobo (Justin) Crystal Davis and Brittany Davis, and four great grandchildren, Logan Graham, Bonnie Burns, Alexis Lindsey and Ethan Bobo.

Services will be held Friday at Pisgah Baptist Church, Fouke, AR. with her son, Dr. Barry Smith, officiating. Burial will follow at Independence Cemetery under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home.

The family will gather at Mrs. Smith's home to receive friends and family.
