She wrote and produced the 1980 television movie The Children of An Lac which chronicles Balin's efforts to assist American Red Cross volunteer Betty Tisdale in rescuing Vietnamese children from a Saigon orphanage by flying them out of the country before the city fell to the communists in the spring of 1975.
