Margaret Howells Hines was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA in April 1915, daughter of David Howells and Gertrude Fehlinger. She was a 1933 graduate of Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre. She was employed by various local companies, and later worked for more than 20 years as a nursing assistant at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. For many years, she owned and operated rental properties in Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Wilkes-Barre. She lived for many years at 52 West Linden Street in Wilkes-Barre, and in 1977 moved to Reynolds Street in Kingston. She was married to and later divorced from Edward Lavere Hines, with whom she had two daughters, Gertrude Ann Hines and Gale Hines McGeever. She had 4 grandchildren, David Allen Hines, Mare Dugum, Ashley McGeever and Jenny McGeever. She died in August 2002 from lung cancer.
